Malindo Plant Cikande Receives RECP Award

PT Malindo Feedmill Tbk, Plant Cikande, received an award and appreciation from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), an industrial development organization under the United Nations, for participating in and implementing the Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production (RECP) program at the Malindo factory Cikande unit , Serang, Banten.

This award was presented by Salil Dutt, Chief Technical Adviser (CTA), RECP Indonesia and received by Ferry Surianto, Senior Plant Manager of PT Malindo Feedmill Plant Cikande – representing the Industrial Zone sector – at an event at the Shangrila Hotel Jakarta, 3 December 2020.

RECP was initiated by UNIDO in collaboration with the Indonesian Ministry of Environment, the Indonesian Ministry of Industry and the Swiss Government by forming a unit called the PPBN or the National Cleaner Production Center.

RECP includes three things, namely improving economic performance through increasing the use of productive resources, protecting the environment by conserving resources and minimizing the impact of industry on the environment and social enhancement by providing jobs and protecting the welfare of workers and local communities.

In this event, Ferry Surianto also gave a glimpse of PT Malindo Feedmill and how the RECP was implemented. “We have replaced the use of coal in boiler machines with palm shells since 2017. This is one of the steps in an effort to maintain sustainability and reduce the impact on the environment, “said Ferry.

He added that before to the implementation of RECP, from 2018 to mid 2019 the use of palm kernel shells for boilers was above 15 kg / ton of feed, but from September 2019 to October 2020 it was more efficient, namely in the range of 12 kg / ton of feed.

The RECP concept is in line with Malindo Management’s direction that factories must make innovations to produce products that are efficient in the use of resources.
